Functional medicine determines how and why illnesses occur, and restores health by addressing the root causes of disease for each individual. The tools used range from diet, supplementation, herbal supplements, IV Therapies, and limited pharmaceuticals.
Functional medicine differs from traditional medicine in that the root cause of the patient's condition is identified and addressed. For example, a type II diabetic does not have a problem with sugar, but insulin resistance. Therefore, by addressing the causes of insulin resistance, type II diabetes often resolves.
